Planning your child's party - Tips and Hints
Children look forward to "their special" day - make it fun and stress free for everyone. Here are a few tips and ideas to make planning easier.
Plan well ahead ( a month should be enough time - if your party is in peak season, plan 2 to 3 months ahead to avoid disappointment )
- Peak season is generally eg. early September - Companies, Shopping centres, Schools, Churches etc are having their "Spring" parties
- Also mid November to mid December when Companies, Shopping Centres, Schools, Churches etc are having their year end parties.
- Try to avoid these times as prices for certain equipment and entertainers are at a peak.

Confirm the date, venue and time of party (make sure it does not clash with child's close friends from school, sporting events, holidays etc). Book and confirm the venue and time before sending out invites.
- There is nothing worse than planning your party and going to great effort and expense, to find out that either another child in the class sent out invites just before you and all have already confirmed they are going to that party, or a school or another event is on the same day or worse still, the Rugby World Cup Final / Wimbledon Final or other such event is on, and those who said they were coming, cancel at the last moment.

Choose a theme with your child ( appropriate foe age of child ) |
Create your party guest list ( child's friends from school / day care / neighbourhood & family )
- Go Over your list a few times to make sure no special friends and family are left out.
Send out invitations requesting guests to RSVP in order to get an estimate number of children and adults attending
- Very important - makes planning and catering easier - always cater for a few extra in case a sibling or so may turn up without prior warning.
Decide on a party budget and plan the following accordingly:
- Decor - make the party table / area special, balloons, streamers
- Menu - children's, adults, party boxes
- Birthday Cake - make yourself, home industry (sponge / ice cream)
- Drinks
- Accessories - plates,cups,hats,blow outs, serviettes
- Costumes
- Games and activities / crafts
- Equipment to hire - jumping castles / slide, tables & chairs, table cloths
- Entertainment: magician, clown, puppet show, face painting
- Take home box / balloons for children
- Additional help required on the day - child minder
- Other fun things - sluch, popcorn, candy floss
- Carousel, pony rides etc
Draw up a time planning schedule of the party, so as not to leave out any important part
